I think you're assuming that liberals aren't from the south. Zell Miller is a neoconservative who calls himself a Democrat because he was around when the Democratic party wouldn't stand up for what is right and his daddy and his daddy's daddy was a Democrat. The Democratic party and the Republican party should have no room for people like Zell Miller.
By the way there is no difference between a southern Democrat or a northern Democrat, there is only a perception that there is. Northern Democrats are concerned with the same issues that southern Democrats are and aren't any less moral. They do care about gun control, the military, religion, abortion and stem cell research.
